This sounds like a symptom of the problem I'm having too (post on July 2). Mine is an '86 Savage. I haven't been able to figure out the problem yet, but someone here suggested that I replace the fuel line and vacuum line with a better grade line. I also plan to clean the fuel cap to make sure it "breathes" properly. My carb appears to be in good shape and not the cause of the issue. It could be a vacuum issue that is causing us both problems. Let me know how you make out. I'll let you know if I resolve it.
